Alix is a platform that enables you to report situations of violence against people who belong to sexual diversity and gender plurality, in order to offer better practices and services.
This website, designed by Interligne, provides a safe space to discuss the different types of violence faced by LGBTQ+ communities. It features information and awareness-raising tools to improve your interventions with victims of violence who belong to these diverse communities.
Sexual Violence and LGBTQ+ Communities
Among the available tools are awareness-raising materials such as interesting guides and video clips, a lexicon on diversity, and scientific publications.
The video titled Parlons-en : les violences sexuelles et les personnes LGBTQ+ (Let’s talk about it: sexual violence and LGBTQ+ people) will be particularly useful. Using statistics and testimonials, it explains the nature of sexual violence, its consequences and its impacts. Most importantly, the video highlights the specific issues surrounding LGBTQ+ communities and presents support resources for people who belong to sexual diversity and gender pluralism.
Last but not least, Alix also provides a direct link to Interligne’s specialized helpline.
Promoting Safety for LGBTQ+ Communities
In addition to collecting anonymous information (provided by victims or witnesses), Alix helps us understand the importance of safe environments and feelings of safety. This involves safeguarding people’s freedom and integrity in all areas of their lives.
In a more concrete way, the platform describes examples of situations that can compromise safety, and suggests strategies for reducing the risk of physical and/or emotional injury in contexts that involve violence. Alix also gives good descriptions of the different types of violence, as well as the cycle of violence (in intimate and romantic contexts) and the various forms it can take.
